It is easy to anthropomorphosise animals when we see cute pictures like this - especially if we are city dwellers.

Farmers don't see a cute little face, they see vermin who kill their chickens, and they want them killed.

That aside, as far as i am aware, Mrs May has said she will offer a free vote on the Fox Hunting Bill when it comes to Parliament, which is offering MP's the right to vote as they see fit.

I don't believe that such an action equates with agreeing that fox hunting is desirable, of that the ban on hunting with dogs should be lifted.

For every one of these “little chaps” there are fifty to a hundred somewhat larger chaps of the same species. These chaps dig up domestic gardens, defecate and urinate all over the place (with all the disease risks attached), worry (and kill) sheep, dig up smallholdings and kill free-range poultry (just for fun, not food).

I am not a supporter of foxhunting. In fact I have no opinion on it either way – not something I’d choose to do but not something I’d like to see others prevented from doing. But if there is to be a debate, let’s not portray foxes as cuddly little creatures. They are nothing of the sort but instead are disease-ridden beasts that cause immense damage both in towns and the countryside.

Lastly, I’m not so sure Mrs May wants to “see this type of little chap hunted”. All she has said is that she will allow a free vote among MPs on the matter.

I think it's misleading though to portray foxhunting as a way of tackling the problem of foxes. It's really just a sport with a hint of cruelty in it, but many of those who are agaiinst it are more concerned that it it is seen as a sport of the richer classes and symbolic of the class system.. I don't see why anyone is even bothering to see it as a factor in the election given all the much more important issues
