Something I'd like to know, too, Kev - they drive me potty, as do the collared doves with their incessant coo COO coo coo COO coo, all the year round. I've often wished I had an airgun!
Anyway, Kev....welcome to AB and have you decided about the pigeons....or are you just bewildered?.....Mostly nice here.....great if you're a quizzer or want a banter in CB.........xxx
Should've posted in 'law' then.
Here you get animal lovers horrified at them bring used as targets.
Roast pigeon sounds nice. Make it a clean shot though.
Kev if you want to shoot them because you don’t want them in your garden, then it won’t help....if you garden is a suitable habitat then pigeons will move in to replace the shot ones.
I think it wold be nice if pigeons could selectively plop explosive droppings on people who would want to shoot them.
It may be more effective to partition the local authority to eliminate as many suitable breeding places for pigeons as possible.
Funny how we recognise dogs for heroic deeds, but forget that the humble pigeons has saved many thousands of lives with their uncanny ability to deliver vital information to UK forces during war times.
Learning to live together sounds nice to me.
If your neighbour finds you annoying, should they be allowed to shoot you? Don't worry, they will use a not very powerful gun that will be probably just leave you with very painful injuries.
You can have the last laugh if they do kill you, as an equally annoying person will move in.
I'm pretty sure that it is legal. Pigeons can be a d**n nuisance. We do, however, have 'Piggy' who waddles along the fence to the bird-feeder. Fattest pigeon around. :)
Living together would be wonderful, Wildwood.....but it doesn't suit some if they're a bit put out....just kill the defenceless ones...
You're so right about folk forgetting what pigeons did during wartime.....and as for eliminating breeding places......hmmm...might be an idea to consider that for humans too........ ;-)
Actually....Tilly could be Kev's secret weapon......despite her being a bird lover and watcher I have known pigeons to visit Tilly's garden and drop down dead..... :-(
