I believe that my fish has dropsy (i'm not a vet but he looks like he's swallowed a golf ball [he hasn't] and from above he looks like a pine cone). I have been medicating with anti-bacterial stuff and adding soothing fish salts to the water. hes been poorly since saturday and doesn't look like hes getting any better however i don't think hes getting any worse, hes still eating and is relativly active. Any ideas on what else i can do

Personally, and i've been keeping ALL fish for 30 years, i'd have it out and knock it on the head. I've always found dropsey to be terminal.

Sorry :-(

think its going to have to go to the vet to get put down - can't bear to do it myself

Try asking on HERE
Is the food you feed him the kind that sinks or floats on the surface of the water? If it is on the surface, he may be gulping air.
