I've just been reading up on the B.A.R.F diet (bones and raw food) written by a woman totally biased to this. She says to feed raw chicken wings and carcasses, even to puppies. I'm not against the B.A.R.F diet but i've always thought you should never give chicken bones to your dog because they can splinter?

Our first dog's brother died at 9 weeks because he stole a raw chicken piece and perforated his intestine. I am not an expert on BARF, have in the past given our adult dogs cow femurs to gnaw on (don't do it now, too much trouble with smell and flies) but I just would not do it
Do not give chicken bones to dogs, you are correct. it does not perforate their intestines but will constipate them and cause them pain. give them to cats....i don't like cats lol
sorry mastadon, you are wrong. Chicken bones may not always perforate the dogs innards but they can and do!!
My dog almost died through a perforated intestine, after him and his mates stole a cooked chicken ... please don't give dogs / foxes/ cats bones of any type, not worth the agony.
all bones are potentially lethal to dogs as they have a tendancy to swallow instead of chewing into a manageable bolus last year i left spare ribs on a plate in the livingroom and my dog decided to eat them and choked on one. it took me a while to stop panicking and luckily i got it out. chicken bones do splinter and can manifest serious complications and its not just the intestines that are in danger of perforation.
As long as the chicken bones are entirely uncooked (not even defrosted in the micro wave) then they are safe for your dog to eat.

I did lots of research into this before we started feeding our dog raw food and have learned that chicken bones as well as any other raw bones will be completely broken down in the dog's stomach as their gut is so incredibly acid.

I've been feeding our dog raw food for over a year now (lots of chicken wings) and I've written some articles in case you'd like to have a peek:
