How Long Does It Take For Two Dogs To Get Along?

To answer my own question, exactly one month!

For those of you who commented on my threads about adopting Honey, the 6 month old terrier, she's been with us for 1 month now, and my other dog, 3.5 year old Willis, and her now play together, nap together and just really really get on :-) It's fantastic!! Patience was the key!

Good news,

We were so lucky with our two, when we introduced Bruno, Roger the Staffie took one look and sorta said 'Come on Mate, I'll show you 'round' never had a problem, thank goodness.

Baldric you are lucky! My Willis was just completely indifferent to the new pup, he wasn't mean but just ignored her. Now it's a different story! He now plays with her how he used to play with me. In fact, I actually feel quite left out!!

I had two male JRTs live together for 3 years and they ignored each other for most of that time the exception being when they suddenly became a "pack" if another dog got a bit sniffy with them when out on walks. They never played together in fact neither of them does play except when thrown a ball in the park but that was only until the smaller one got it and he wouldn't let it go again so game over. They were funny little chaps;-)

I too was very lucky there connection was instant - the trainer we went too could not believe how 'together' they were.
