Hi missmooncat, haven't seen you around for a while! That happened us as well, our white cat yasmin, total house cat,got fleas...very noticeable on a white cat naturally!! Would be interested to know as well

Although fleas can jump nearly 6 feet and can come into homes attached to clothing, the most likely culprit for causing them to be in your home are.... mice. Mice surreptitiously come and go without most home owners knowing it. They, like rats are prime carriers of the fleas. Fleas eggs and larvae can remain dormant for quite a while under some circumstances. Once in the house, they will then seek out the pets and you for a blood meal.

Good luck!

Thanks I don`t think it was mice I lived in a first floor flat,I was the first tenant.Come to think of it I`ve just remembered my friend had cats which went out,the fleas probably came on her clothing.

Thanks

Don't wish to worry you unessesarily, but mice are very good climbers when they want to be.

I know I had them in another flat,that was on 1st floor too.Little ******* they were !!

Mr W picked up fleas in a taxi once and gave them to our dog!! We know this is true beacuse he used the taxi service quite regularly and the driver apologised to him!! Apparently a previous (human) passenger had infested the taxi!!!

PS, yes I can spell "because"

Fleas UGH! Fleas can live in grass. They thrive in warm moist areas.... One year we had no fleas at all and then the next we were infested. Our Vet said that it all depends on the weather. If you have had a mild summer with alot of rain they are worse. But, if it is real hot and dry they are not as bad. Also they can be dorment for a long time...

Once we moved to a small apt and there seemed to be no fleas at all ( we had no pets then) but as soon as we got a cat the fleas seemed to appear out of no where. You can protect your cat with a flea treatment that you can get from your vet and it last a month at a time. I use it on all of my animals and it kills the fleas and the eggs. It dosnt repel the fleas, but it will kill them in mins of biting......I would also vacum alot to get them out of carpets and rugs. Wash all the cats bedding in hot water, washing in warm or cold will not kill the fleas. They are very hard to kill.

Here is a web site that I found which has a lot of information on fleas www.pmra-arla.gc.ca/english/consum/fleas-e.html Also tells alot about treatment Good luck! I know they are a pain........ :)

Someone told me once they get them from the grass
