Lace Wings

I think these are an endangered species, but in Yorkshire there are loads of them (we are surrounded by countryside where we live) But what i am curious about is what do they live on? The reason I ask is that there has been one in mr pixis van and one in our bathroom for months now

just googled and realised there are all sorts of lacewings, these are the ones i am on about lacewings

they eat aphids, but should have now gone into hibernation which explains why they are in Mr Pixi's van and your bathroom, if you can, leave them alone and then come spring, let them go and you will have done your liitle bit for the natural world (aaah)

hi jules thanks for that. The funny thing is I was in mr pixis van the other day and saw the lacewing so I opened the door to let it out. He sees me waving my hands about and asked what i was doing, when I told him he says 'but it lives in here, its been here months' I had to look for it (fortunately it was on the inside of the van door lol) I will take your advice and leave them exactly where they are, thank you :)

I am a little puzzed by your link pixi. You say you are from Yorkshire but the link goes to a page of Australian lacewings (from the Brisbane area). If you really are seeing Ozzy lacewings down there in the Yorkshire countryside, I am not surprised they are endangered as they will be used to a much warmer climate back home.

hi gen2, the lacewing i put up a link to looks just like the ones we have around here, maybe I have got the wrong species in the link, but they look exactly the same. I have had another look at the link and the only differnce i can see is that the ones we have hanging around dont have markings on their wings, they are just plain pale see through green. Now im even more puzzled than ever
