Nuisance Cat!

I don’t even know if there is an answer, my female cat is 13 yrs old and really shy and nervy. I’ve susoected for ages that another cat has been coming in the cat flap and eating her food. I can’t put one of those collars on her that trigger the cat flap just for her as she somehow l9es all her collars so I gave up, I’ve literally just now, whilst sat in lounge, heard a huge hiss in kitchen. Race there to see a blooming huge long haired toirtiishell cat scaring my own cat from her own food! Chased him/her outside but what can I do now?

When Kitty wants out she will stand at the door and miaow for England till you open the door.

If you know the owner of the tortoiseshell advise them that you will bill them for any food it eats and damage that it causes to your house.

If it is a stray, complain to the council that it is a wild cat and you are afraid of it when it comes into your kitchen and that you want it caught.

Owners are responsible for their pets and should not have cats if they can't control them and they cause nuisance to their neighbours.
Cats loose by themselves are noisy, defecate on other peoples property, eat pond goldfish and birds and in my opinion are a bigger nuisance than dogs.

Incidentally, I have two cats myself, but I don't let them annoy any neighbours. Cats are cats - but it is the owners who should be penalised.

If you don't want to harm the tortoiseshell, then keep a bowl/bucket of water handy or a fairy liquid bottle of water and every time you see it, douse it. It should soon get the idea that your house means it is going to get soaked, and should leave you alone

can you put her food down somewhere else and keep kitchen door closed..after a while of not finding food the other cat will stop calling

I agree with minty, remove the incentive, feed your kitty in another room and at fixed times so the food isn't accessible. Also try getting a photo of the villain and post it around you neighbourhood with a message like,

Is this your cat, I believe it is a stray if I am not contacted within 7 days I will ask cats protection to come and trap it.

Owners aren't responsible for their cats behaviour and if a cat is out and about any cat flap is an invitation to dinner.
