Good Weekend For Wildlife.

Spotted a peregrine being mobbed by gulls over my house, yesterday. Went on a moth watch last night in my local park. Finished it off today at the city centre with a hen harrier day...lots of excellent speakers explaining the plight of these magnificent birds.

The last bit must have been depressing, Melv.

They've bred in the peak district this year. The four chicks fledged last week :-)
None have bred in Yorkshire, though :-(...we all know why.

How many breeding pairs in England? How many fledged chicks this year?

I think they said 10 breeding pairs, producing 38 fledged chicks. Only a quarter of them will make it through to next year, due to natural selection. The rest have to run the gauntlet of gamekeepers etc

I also found out last night that there are over 2,500 species of moth in this country! So I went down to Waterstones and spent £20-00 on a field guide.
