House Cat

I need some advice and know several people have cats on here.
I have been wanting a cat for sometime now having had them in the past and love them.
Have been watching rescue centre websites and not been lucky there.
Question is. I have seen a lovely house cat advertised privately on web. I am a bit suspicious as there are two 6 month old kittens for sale but not siblings. No sign of mothers and no reason for sale.
They also say they have their claws trimmed every 2 weeks. Is this normal for a house cat?
I know I am probably being too cautious but have seen so much about puppy farming and I presume the same thing can apply to cats.

Is the owner wanting money for them? This would raise my suspicions!

I have just spoken to my son and have decided to go with my gut instinct and wait for rescue cat. Certainly for me the animal's welfare is paramount. I would not want to have anything to do with any dodgy deals. Yes they do want money £250.
My son also reminded me that I want an older cat (like me!)
Trouble is rescue centres are very strict regarding road traffic and think my road is too busy. All neighbours have cats and they are ok.
House is too quiet and lonely.

£250? Was it a pedigree?
If you are willing to take an older cat and have it as a house care then the rescue centres will take your hands off you.
Go in the new year there will be no shortage xx

There are many small rescues who ‘advertise’ the cats they have that need forever homes. You can narrow it down to your region.
I am no longer involved but some of my most successful pairings have been between oldies....two legs and four. Good luck.

Thanks for the link, jakep. I have looked on all the local sites before but need to keep a closer eye now and get something sorted soon.
Difficult without transport and not very mobile on crutches for 2 years.
Hoping things improve in 2019.

I paid £20 for my cat and that was to cover his flea and worming treatment.

They cost a bit from a rescue centre, ummmm. This was a snowshoe and really lovely. As I said, am waiting to see what I can get in rescue centre now.

I got a cat from a re-homing centre and they didn't charge. They asked for a donation.

My current cat is a bit of a weirdo.

When we lost our last, we were both devastated and said 'No more'.
I was just getting used to idea when I caught hubby looking at Cats Protection site not too far away. We visited and came back with two males, 18 months and 2 yrs, not related but both had had a bad start in life. I would have bought them all home but with over 30 in there this was impossible. Prior to bringing them home we were visited by a representative from the RSPCA. We live on a main road and thought this would go against us but we had already agreed they would be indoor cats. They go out with us but on a harness with extra long leads. They seem very happy doing that. We have had them 4 years now, the first 18 months to 2 years both were very nervous and it took them this amount of time to settle in and gain our trust. Now they are extremely happy and trust us entirely. They needed a loving home and hopefully we have given them just that. The cost was £50 for one and £30 the other. They were neutered, microchipped, wormed, flea treatment given and had a vets check with certification prior to us picking up.
I hope you get just what you want and what a rescue cat needs.

I had one reserved from Cats Protection nearly 2 years ago and then the day before I was getting her I fractured my femur and hip went. Operation 8 months ago and now only one crutch so can cope now and looking forward to having a house mate.
I prefer to have rescue ones as have had rescue dogs in the past and they do need good homes.
