Most dogs are lactose intolerant but my late dog used to love a piece of cheese.
Question Author
My sons Jack Russell enjoyed a piece when he called.
Most dogs aren’t lactose intolerant, some are.
Try them with a small piece first, one my dogs reacts very badly to even a small amount of cheese and it makes him be sick for 24 hours .
Good advice riptide.
It's possible to get chocolate that is specially made for dogs. Ours loved it!
Too much cheese can also make them fat!
too much practically anything can make dogs fat
Our dog would have sold her soul to the devil for a piece of cheese - it made it very easy to give her any pills.
Too much of it can cause pancreatitis in dogs.
My dog loves cheese and he has some as a treat every weekend. He's licking his lips as I walk towards him with it!
LOL at bhg481 ;-)
My dog appears magically every time I open the cupboard housing the cheese grater. There's not much in there that we use regularly. It must sound different to the other cupboards opening! She gets some small pieces of cheese, but as others have said too much cheese can cause pancreatitis in dogs which can be fatal.
Like yours, apg, mine even recognise the cheese grater, even if they aren't in the room. They love it, and I have always given it to them on occasions, with no apparent problems.
Its worth remembering that its the fat content of ANY food that can trigger pancreatitis.....IMO its a bit dangerous to say oh this or that food can cause/trigger it because its the TOTAL amount of fat in the diet that causes the problem.
