Cat Water Fountain

My cat won't drink from it, she'll drink from the kitchen sink tap and the bathroom taps and I thought getting the fountain would solve all that, but she just ignores it.
Anyone have the same problem?

As pastafreak says, cats are obtuse, and will insist on doing everything their way.
We've given up providing fresh water in a bowl. Our two will always drink from the pond or the birdbath, or even water that's been left in a bucket for weeks.

I really thought she'd take to it straight away, it has a nice trickling sound that cats love, but she's no interest, I even added flavor to it, she's still not taking the bait.

I've got a greyhound. They are said to be more like cats than dogs...they want a good reason to do something, otherwise they do what *they* want.

Frankie has a water fountain and a bowl full of water - he uses the bowl to drink from (and the kitchen tap) but seems to prefer washing/drowning his fabric mice in the fountain.

Is the fountain by her food? If so try putting it well away from the food bowl.

We tend to assume food and drink go together, but they definitely don't.

I think this will vary from cat to cat - mine certainly wouldn't use it. I've also given up putting down a water bowl as they will only drink from a dirty rainwater collector in the garden.

My next door neighbour was worried her cat didn't drink and I pointed out he come to drink from my watering can or birdbaths.
Wolf 'drowning fabric mice' made me laugh :)

We have 2 rescue cats, 2 yrs and 18 months when we got them. They had a water bowl which one drank out of, the other didn't seem to drink much at all. We decided to get a water fountain and the one that drank water took to it soon after the purchase. The other eventually caught on after watching the other and now both use it. Neither use the bowl now which is alongside their food dishes in the kitchen. The fountain is in the conservatory. I think it was a good purchase.
Perhaps your cat just needs time to get used to it.

Cats are just furry children. If you spend a lot of money on a fancy toy...they will prefer the box. Well, it makes sense to them.
If you put something out of their reach, they will find a way to get to it. Put the cat fountain on an upper shelf...it will become very appealing.
Then there's the 'problem of cats hiding...

Hopkirk, no it's not by her food, it's plugged in about 8ft away from her food bowl. She's still not interested.
