Car & Dog Fur Trade in China

I have just watched a sickening TV news programme showing how cats & dogs are ill treated in Chinese markets before being killed and skinned for the fur trade in Europe. I hope that anybody else who saw it and was as sickened as I was will write a letter of objection to:

I know - it was awful wasn't it? Even if you're into fur, the way these animals were treated was beyond belief. They're already unable to move due to being squashed in those wire boxes and then that freak of a man was poking the poor little sods with a big sharp stick. Why???

I was completely sickened too Wendy,but,the quote from the Chinese authorities,said that the demand for the fur was coming from America and Europe,and that it was their fault therefore. That sounds as if they have backed away from any responsibility at all. That of course too,is sickening!!

Oh no, they're called mink and are not little puss cats, so it's alright to cram them into cages until they're old enough to be gassed and skinned for their fur......

Hypocritical as it sounds, in Europe, unlike in China, there are laws against mistreating an animal. Right up to the point where you take its little life away.....

Afraid to say, it is simply an issue of supply and demand.....

If europe and the rest of the so called "civilised" nations continue to buy fur then this sickening trade will continue.

Same as battery farms for cheap chicken meat etc.. etc..

If there is no-where for these "people" to sell the products too, then they will soon give it up and find some other trade to ply in!!

I suppose the current fashion for fur trim on everything is not helping. It all makes me feel really physically sick. While people insist on wearing real fur this will continue.
(However, we do treat battery hens in exactly the same fashion here! and where I live the battery chicken farming is increasing dramatically. They may not be soft and cuddly but they still feel pain)

Please write to your MP as well as to the Ambassador - See link to Parliament latest news http://www.number-10.gov.uk/output/Page4180.asp and tell your MP to take action against this sick business.

There was an article a while back by the Daily Mail (amongst others) about the Belgian fur trade and claims of stolen pets being used for fur - retiever coats, cats as blankets - but the EU claimed it couldn't act against the makers!!!

What really is the point of objecting to the Chinese Embassy? They are an 'emerging economy' satisfying a commercial demand.

Being concerned about animal cruelty is a First World luxury.

If you really want to do something, you need to look at Christian Dior, Hermes and Alberta Ferretti, Harrods and Louis Vuitton - even down to the gift shop that sells those cute little cats in the baskets. ("It's only rabbit fur - isn't it?" yeah - right !!)

The fashion houses - the designers - the retailers - the consumers - YOU! That is what creates the demand for fur that China is satisfying.
