How can vets justify charging £300 or more to x-Ray a dog? Surely a few such x-rays and the machine is paid for. Vets fees seriously need to be controlled, don’t they?
If you are comparing it to human x rays don't forget we don't pay for them! Also vets have to study for longer than doctors and the cost of their surgery equipment plus staff has to be paid for. I for one am glad that there are vets to treat my animals. Don't want to pay - don't have them.
I wish :-). But seriously.... animals have private healthcare. You are paying for the experience and knowledge of those using the machine and interpreting results etc.... after hundreds of years of training.
Otherwise.... use the installments to buy your own x-ray machine and DIY it... :-)
nope. X-ray machines are very expensive pieces of kit and they need to be serviced and replaced regularly. You are also paying for the handling of your pet, maybe also sedation or GA, the knowledge and experience (and insurance) of the person doing and reading the x rays, the maintenance of the building, employment of nurses and admin staff, VAT and so on. Vets are private companies like marks and spencer. If you don't like the fees, find somewhere else or don't have a pet.
