This is really sad.

Is it too much to ask dog owners to keep their dogs on leads when near wildlife?

Oh yes I remember now, lol
It's absolutely heartbreaking about Freddie, the pictures of him being attacked were bloody awful and then he couldn't be saved. The owner is clearly pictured holding her dog afterwards, I don't know why they haven't found her yet. At the very least she should send a large donation to the wildlife centre that tried to save Freddie. Personally, I think she should be charged with a wildlife offence and keep her ruddy dog muzzled when out with it !
Thats the first time I've seen that Fenton Video -its horrendous! Those poor animals panicking, and people think it's funny? I am not joking if Fenton had been chasing my sheep like that Fenton would be dead.
Tragic, poor Freddie.
I agree, APG, nothing funny about Fenton.
So sad.
I read story last week, how A man with three dogs let one off lead, and it attacked swan in river and killed it. The swan's mate, who stay together for life, will likely die from broken heart, it was said. Heart breaking stories.
I never thought Fenton was funny either, especially as the deer were running towards the road.

A dog killed a swan on a pond in Warrington a few years ago, the owner was never traced.

Yes, poor Freddy...and all the other animals that die when owners cannot control their dogs. I'd be mortified if my dog attacked another.
Apparently the owner of the dog is an Oxford educated top QC. I doubt much will happen to her or the dog, but I hope I'm wrong !

I don't think anyone found Fenton chasing the deer funny. More to do with his owner screeching his name.

Owners need to be fully in control of their dogs whether on or off the lead.
The owner of the dog has been named and shamed (good) An Oxford educated QC. A classic example of how someone can be educated and 'brainy' but have no common sense whatsoever.
Yes well said Tigger on both accounts.
The woman apparently went to the police and the RSPCA and was told she was in the clear, no offence committed!!! Unbelievable.
