I felt sad when a small, local pet shop closed down in Stowmarket but then realised that, apart from once buying a greetings card (with a cat picture on it) in there, I probably hadn't actually ventured into it for over a decade. So I can understand why it's hard for independent pet shops to make money.

I last bought both a cat bed and a cat cave at Wilko...both were cheaper than Amazon.
I'd want my pet food to be a competitive price...ie, same as supermarkets. Right now I buy from Sainsbury's and Wilko. I'd bought from Amazon early in the year, but their prices...except for those from Morrison's...have skyrocketed.
No suggestions for quirky unfortunately. My cats are both boring and have little interest in toys :(

Gave up on cat toys and beds.
Blue has found grandsons bag of golf balls and how to open it. She sleeps on the coffee table.
DJ changes her sleeping place weekly, goes round the house clockwise to a specific spot.
Binkie sleeps on the stuffed dog on grandsons bed or on the doll bed. Toys are beneath her but bring on the cardboard box.
Babu sleeps across the doors that open to the outside or on the marble in front of the fire. Sometimes plays "golf " with blue.
Cookie and Marmalade come to my bed about midnight and stay till 5pm when they go out. Marmalade sometimes has a half hour sunbathe at 8.30 am on the watered grass. They will all greet the dogs at some point during the day.

I also get everything online really. This may not be what you want, but if it were my choice- I would only consider a tack shop and horse stuff. It's one place where everyone seems to like to go in, rather than just order. And there is no end of crap that people can't or won't buy for their horses :-)
