Whatever hapened to white dog dirt? Where did it come from and why don't we see it any more?

Andy, I guess dogs just don't defecate like they used to...
I have heard that the white colour was caused by calcium from the bones given to dogs. Dogs eat more processed pet food and less leftovers nowadays, so they have more balanced diet with less of the excess calcium that caused the whiteness.
I think it's because poop is scooped now, whereas 'in the old days' it was left on the streets to go white and hard.
