The Return Of The Elephants.

I thought that I would start a new thread about the Botswana elephants as navigating between the two previous ones was a little cumbersome. I emailed Camp Kuzumo regarding the activity of the back-hoe around the watering-hole, and they replied saying that it was enlarging the whole prior to the start of the rainy season in November: https://www.earthcam.com/world/botswana/chobe/?cam=campkuzuma

LB, did you notice how much larger the watering-hole is now? Originally, it was just the portion in the middle, and now they've dredged two "wings" to it, one on the right and one on the left.

It's looking like all the mothers have brought their young 'uns down for an afternoon tipple.

That guy has been bathing and drinking for over two hours now...Must be getting ready for a date:)

Ha! Some of them do spend so long there don't they. The gals are too busy looking after their offspring.

I have continued to look at this webcam daily and frequently in the day (I'm always sneaking a peek at work, as I am at the moment). The elephants have been back for about a month now and yes can see what a benefit the digger has now made. I continue to see little things and deer (and giraffe) running round the back edge but resolution not clear enough really to determine what they are.

I have a feeling that he was a member of the camp staff just checking things. If you scroll down a bit you can see that the humidity is now in the double digits which kind of indicates that the November rainy season is approaching.

You're right, LB, there's one to the right of the screen.

It's gone now. A lone male perhaps.

Yes, the males are often solitary roamers but sometimes form small groups.

One elephant in the water on its own. Is that a storm going on or fireflies shooting about?

LB, if you mean those occasional lights visible towards the top of the screen, I think there's a road/track/trail back there and you're seeing headlights appearing and then disappearing because of the tree cover.
