Just seen woof, but anyone please, any advice....?
My 10 month old cocker, I have had from 4 months.... has put her nose down and fully raced off 3 times now. Never had a dog do this before...
I have done the same as with my others, who all have excellent recall... of calling her by name (at home and on walks) regularly and giving her treats, or also if she just comes back.
99% of the time she is brilliantly responsive... but 3 x, she has got herself lost and run back to my car, where another walker has found her howling.
Going back to a long training lead again. But, any suggestions would be great... please... xx
A dog with selective hearing! We have had two like that. In my opinion it can happen with any young dog any time regardless offence plenty training. One of ours went off like the mere sniff of a squirrel. It's instinct. Back tongue lead for a while I would suggest.
Thanks both xx yes, will return to long lead again, I think. She has returned to the car twice when we took it, last time we walked from home, she ran home and waited outside the front door howling... but did have to cross a couple of quiet roads...
Thank you xx
