My friend lives with her sister, and she is around her sisters dog a lot. She says the dog licke itself a lot, but there are no sores or bald spots or anything but it’s hard to tell because it has a long coat. She also said the dog makes like moaning or grunting sounds when it licks itself. I thought at first it might be normal because the moans might mean the it feels good to the dog, but might it mean that the dog is in pain if it moans when it licks itself?

Yes, dogs moan, grunt, slurp, and then grunt some more...it's perfectly normal. They also chew and lick as they groom and clean themselves.
My dog doesn't make any sound at all when she licks herself ..
no one has said lickspot
try googling - lickspot dog

( otherwise cats get them AND there is a group / groups called that)
