Me and my husband have both been thinking on getting a dachshund as our family dog. Ideally, it would be so nice if Clara was able to walk the family dog. I don’t mean irresponsibly, I mean, she deserves to be able to walk the dog just like all of us.

Do any of y’all have a dachshund? Do you think this breed would be too much for someone clara’s size? Would someone her size be able to walk this dog?

yes theres lots of help groups, forums there.... eg https://www.facebook.com/groups/83385134915
we suggested them before but looks like sarah prefers to chat... and maybe the forums deal with the issues affecting the more typical dwarfs as clara is below/at the very low end of the scale
I think Sarah needs to contact the main organisation rather than Facebook groups. There must be many services available in the US. Oklahoma is a large state with excellent medical facilities who could point her in the right direction.
[email protected] is the Oklahoma branch
calmk@12:59...that is where my link listing support groups is from.
Pasta she just has to send them an email. Don't know where payment comes in for basic info.
Get a stuffed one - they're no trouble at all.
I thought the same. Organisations such as that do not usually ask for payments...though possibly some of the linked ones might.
The LPA website support group provides professional and peer support and costs $55 a year per household membership.
seems a small price to pa for expertise ...a site targetted at dwarfism issues... though maybe not as ecxeptional as clara...whereas answerbank audience is good at some issues but has little experience of extreme dwarfism issues especially regarding how things are for dwarf families /carers in USA
AB is good in that it has people willing to hunt for information in an attempt to help.
well this shows the ongoing support systems for dwarfs like clara and families in USA, or at least in Oklahoma, are very lacking if a poster like sarah there feels the need to ask over here for so much advice on daytoday issue's like showers, pets, toys, activities.. I hope she gets support at school (clara that is not sarah of course)
Just a random thought. How has Sarah managed for the last 6 years without accessing a local support group. She must have dedicated medical care to assess Clara's needs
Dachshunds are statistically one of the most snappy and aggressive breeds without the correct training and firm handling. Not something a six year old could do, miniature schnauzer might be better as they are more easy going while still small
ah sorry.... I guess us on Answerbank are alot more helpful than them on that dogforum. Did you decide on a dog??
