Hi guys,

can anyone tell me when the evenings start to get noticably lighter? I know springtime begins end of March/ beginning of April, but I can't stand walking home from work in the dark!

Thanks!

Alas - probably not for some yet, although as the sun gets higher it gets a bit brighter in the afternoons but still very dark in the evenings. Also in January for the first couple of weeks, it gets a bit darker in the mornings - anybody else noticed?
The evening have already started to get a little lighter, but only about 15 minutes a week. roll on summer !
You think you've got it bad? In Fairbanks, Alaska, today the sun rises at 10:58 a.m. and sets at 2:41 p.m. In Barrow, Alaska, the U.S.'s highest latitude community, the sun from mid-December through mid-January never crests above the horizon. But... we have reason for hope. The days have already begun lengthening, albeit almost imperceptibly. However, that rate will increase within the next few weeks... Just remember, Credula vitam spes fovet et melius cras fore semper dicit...
I seem to remember from last year that by the end of February there was still a faint hint of daylight in the sky around 5 p.m. Hang on in there - at least the shortest day passed around 22nd December so we're on our way!
