Why can rats run vertically up walls?

Some insects can, but are you sure rats can do it too?
Rats have very fine and sharp claws and therefore have an incredible grip. They also have very strong legs which helps them climb
Rats can only climb walls that have suitable grip. if they tried to run up a wall in your house, for example, they wouldn't be able to. since bricks aren't very smooth, rats grip on to the little bumps and cracks on the bricks. Rats can also run up pipes by applying pressure on both sides of the pipe and pushing upwards.
