If he forms a new party to rival Reform UK

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2025/03/11/farage-rupert-lowe-row-huge-distraction-i-could-do-without/

musk is the world's richest man and a few months ago was talking about a £100 million donation... this would make the receiving party as well resourced or better than the tories or labour

will reform uk split?

i have not been able to find a version of this story that is not behind a paywall

if anybody does find one then please post it!

Question Author

thank you!

They need to patch things up & get on with making Reform a proper party. It would be madness to split.

Question Author

strangely the two archive links do not mention musk backing lowe but the OP does :/

even the Eastern Daily Press requires subscription now

split for £100m ?

yay - how far do you want me to split up me doo-dah for a hundred mill ?

If you copy a link and then post it in the archive.ph website, it gets behind a lot of paywalls.

If you're the first to do it, it can take a while for all the various code to load but quite often it's already been loaded by someone else.

oh modern parlance

splitsies or no-splitsies ? did I say that ? and who said a hundred mill

this is a new politics

//this would make the receiving party as well resourced or better than the tories or labour/.

It wouldn't buy them votes.

Question Author

it might split reform's voters just a bit.

Doubt it.   The electorate want stability.

Elon Musk's money is more likely to put people off at this point.

Question Author

rightwing vote could go three ways...

tories

reform uk

whatever this party is

Question Author

another interpretation might be that musk is using this to make an example of farage. ie suggesting to rightwing parties across europe that they either behave like AfD and submit to him or else get undermined from within like farage

just speculation but it would explain this behaviour imo

Unsure about Musks backing being a good thing, especially outside the US.

People dont usually take kindly to outside interference (from any political colour).

Still, it's good this is out in the open with plenty of time to sort things out.  Whilst I really dont think Lowe has the wow factor needed to get a new Party into power Farage does at some point need to get used to the fact he cant be leader forever.

There used to be an expression used when flirty young things the amusement of themselves and their friends, led young men on then left them dangling.

Tease was the second word and the first summed up Musk perfectly.

Sniggger.

I'm beginning to think the Trump/Musk honeymoon may be drawing to a close, though I haven't seen any firm evidence for that as yet, just a hunch.
