i have recently skinned and eaten a rabbit and would like to be able to do something with the skin, as it is a shame to waste such a nice peice of fur. any ideas on how to preserve it and use it would be appreciated.

Harry .. Once the rabbit skin has dried out you need to rub the back of it in order to soften the skin. As for something to make out of it well I once used one to make the backs of a pair of mittens but I can't really think of much else unless you get more skins. Hey there seems to be a lot of vegetarians on this site!
I also agree with bimsey.  I can't believe what I've just read!
Rub the back with the contents of a strong tea bag maybe! My guess is that it was road kill. Better then letting the maggots have it, hey? Do some people think it is better to get someone else to kill animals for their meat, leather or fur for them? Unless you are a complete veggie, you haven't a leg to stand on.
