thanks for advice, just to reply to an answer sent to me, I do go to puppy training classes and have spoken at length to the trainer. Last night I put her advice into place - changed the time of his final feed so that he didn't mess in his crate and moved the crate to a different position. This morning he had only wee'd the pad and when I left him for 2 hrs this morning, he had stayed dry. Yippee!!!!

Most of the answers here are made pretty general that is why we said go to a trainer, you can talk to them directly, and they can ask multiple questions to try and pinpoint the problem. I feel like a detective most of the time when someone presents a problem to me. You have to dig and dig to get to the root of the problem, until that is found it can't be solved. That is why I would rather "talk" to someone face to face, you get a rapid response. ~/:\~
