What breed is my cat?

Is there any way I find out what breed or what breeds may be in my cat. He's basically a moggie but a couple of people had said they think he may have some Maine C**n in him but having seen some picture of pure bred ones I'm not so sure. He was a stray that I rescued so I have no idea of his parentage. I'd just be really interested to find out what breeds may have been in his ancestry. Thanks.

I gather your post was supposed to read MAINE C00N!

Here is a link on that breed of cat.

(This editing lark certainly needs adjusting Ed)!

No doubt someone will be along soon to report the word Maine C00N, even though it's an American breed of cat!

Thanks Smudge. This editing thing is silly! Thanks for the link. Reading some of the characteristics I'm beginning to think maybe he is Maine C00N - he certainly has the tufty ears and the long tufts of hair between his toes as well as having very fluffy breeches! He's also very vocal and extremely affectionate.
Your'e welcome Anna - what a beautiful cat the Maine C00n is too!

I used to have a maine **** and basically without the paperwork it is easy to mistake moggies for them. They should have a distinctive M shape in their forhead as you would get in a tabby i.e. the markings on the fur make a M. They also take 5 years to grow to full size and they are indeed large at that age.

I have a rescue tabby who more or less ticks most of the breeding charateristics of a MC but when you see her litter brother you know there is no chance! He is a smooth haired slim built cat which is also tabby but a totally different shape!

I have a silky smooth short hair well behaved and well cultured cat, I just got her and her 4 kittens when the lady told me she was a short hair persian but my husband doesn't think so. Could anyone give me any information on how to find out what kind of cat I have? There isn't anything on the internet about short hair persians besides the fact they exsist.

Thank You,

Danielle
