Can a small inside dog that has been properly vaccinated, but goes outside to use the bathroom make a small child sick?

There are very few diseases that can be passed from an animal species to humans. The only ones I'm aware of from dogs are scabies, which is a skin disease caused by itch mites which burrow under the skin and possibly strep throat, but that is extremely rare. As you know, children are prone to putting their hands in their mouths and if the child came into contact with dog fecal matter the child could contract roundworms. That's a possibilty from many sources, however, not just dogs...

Yes, if a dog is allowed to use a yard or play area for doing what comes natural, then canine toxicara can be contracted, which can cause blindness. fae'ces should be removed asap to avoid contamination.

Provided that children are taught to wash their hands after petting or handling any animal, and the owner is careful to regularly worm their pet with an effective prescription drug, the risks to a child are miniscule.

As I've mentioned before on AB, our friend's son contracted Toxocara. It was pitiful to watch him & his family suffering with all the trauma of him losing his eye at just 5 years old.
