Can animals lie to manipulate others?

Through actions of course. Can pets even decieve masters into getting what they want?

I dont think animals/pets can be devious or scheming, that, think is a trait thats uneque to humans, but pets seem to maipulate their owners to get what they want, only through lack of understanding on the part of their masters and the way we may think that animals view the world aroun them, and of course our pets soon learn to cash in on this, especialy where food is involved..

We had a GSD some years ago,we also used to have a rott pup the same age,they grew up together,we would go into the kitchen when we got home from work and there would be tins all over the floor and the rottie would have her nose in the cupboard,the GSD meanwhile sat there like butter wouldn't melt,we assumed it must have been the rottie,similiar things would happen over the next months,things dragged out of the fridge,off worktops etc,but the fridge door would be shut,So one day we spied on them,the gsd opened the cupboard door dragged the tins out,the rottie put her nose in the cupboard,the gsd barked,we walked in,hey presto,one guilty looking rott and one butter wouldn't melt gsd,She was always getting up to things like that,but we wouldn't have had them any other way!

And think of labradors pretending they haven't been fed for a month. Ours got fed 3 times one evening, everyone thinking that the others had forgotten!
