my 12 year old springer has recently had a stroke, although he's made a great recovery so far, his appetite is reduced. Any ideas on this or anything else which will help him

I had a labrador who had a stroke. She never really recovered her appetite to the same (greedy labrador!) extent but I gave her lots of chicken and rice which she enjoyed. Don't worry too much, apart from a reduced appetite mine was fairly soon back to being her old self.

Thanks for your reply, my dog gets better by the day and has now started eating a little from his bowl ( I think he likes me sitting on the floor with him feeding him by hand too much!) He's not the first elderly dog I've had and I've experienced strokes before but this was the first time I've experienced this appetite loss.
Good, I'm pleased he's getting better. We really put ourselves through it for our pets don't we? Every time I have lost a dog I swear I will never go through that again and I always end up with another one.
