Cat gave birth outside

My cat gave birth to her 1st litter 2 days ago. She is a country cat so she had her kittens somewhere outside. She returned home and is staying home....could her kittens of gotten killed or born dead? She has been staying on our back patio all day long...and doesn't leave until dark.
