Why does my dog love running along walls so much?

My dog loves to jump up and on to wall and to run along them. He has a broad grin and a wagging tail whilst he does this. He also loves to jump over walls and will return straight away for another shot if allowed. Does he like being on higher ground because this increases his importance or is it just fun?
