Has man ever been able to teach any other animal (chimps etc) how to control fire?

No, absolutely not. Some animals do use tools, and chimps, etc have been taught to use other tools and devices, but fire...no, never.
there was a program a few years ago about crows that used to steal matches and strike them with their beaks to light them then hold their wings over them, it was said to help their natural oil to cover their feathers
fish have the problem pretty good under controll...
The simple answer is "yes".The Hippopotamus controls fires by stamping them out, so don't light one if there are any around, they are control freaks.
The answer is no but John Prescott is working on something now in the Bain report
hippos dont put out fires, but rhinos do. they stamp it out. so if you are being chased by a rhino, light a fire then climb up a tree. (note. dont climb up a tree and then light the fire)
