have you tried the hypnotising rabbit trick?
All you do is sit down, lay the rabbit upside down on your lap, covering his eyes gently with your hand, with the other hand keep his back legs tucked into his tummy in the natural position, talk to him gently and within a minute he will fall asleep....the more you do it the more he will get used to it.
You need someone else to come along and tidy his bottom up...use lots of water and wash his back end...warm water so as not to startle him....all the while keeping his eyes covered. As a vet nurse we used to perform teetch clipping this way so as to avoid an anaesthetic.
As long as there are not sudden movements or loud noises he will stay asleep untill you uncover his eyes.
