I Wonder Why This Number Is Rising So...
Politics0 min ago
Recently my cat was annoying a large frog that was hopping across the car park beside my house. When I went to pick up the frog to move it to my neighbour's pond (where it must have come from) it did such a high pitched scream that I jumped back. The second time, although I was prepared for the scream, it was so intense that it startled me again and I couldn't bring myself to pick it up. I have had frogs in my garden for years and have never heard one scream before. Has anyone else ever heard a frog scream?
(The frog hopped happily across the car park and into the weeds beside the pond, while the cat hid behind me watching in amazement).

Hello Felinechums
I came onto the web to look up frog screaming and found your question. I also had never heard a frog scream before.
No cats were involved, I was raking grass when this frog screamed and leapt over the rake.
The pitch of the scream was quite amazing and I'm sure I jumped almost as much as the frog.
I thought I had found a rare screaming frog..but alas not!
Hi britcat, just like you I thought that I had discovered a rare species, and was most annoyed that I could not bring myself to pick it up so that other people could see this wonder of nature. Since then, of course, I have learned that most, perhaps all, of our native frogs can scream when the need arises.
Scarey sound, though, isn't it?
Hi felinechums, yes. frog screaming is a scary sound. I have been telling all and sundry about my froggy trauma and would you believe it...everybody and his dog seems to have heard something lately about this phenomenon.Perhaps this is the year when all frogs must scream at least once.
I love frogs and have some froglets merrily swimming in my pond at the moment. I was looking at them today and wondering if one could train them as "Guard Frogs" I feel a Monty Python moment coming on....!!!
