Grey fleece dyed blue will be a different shade to a white fleece. Different mordants as they are called to fix the dye will also give varying results for coloured fleece.
Coloured fleeces like a brown will generally be used for brown/beige/fawn end colours anyway as greens reds and blues will not lookthe same if the fleece is coloured to start with.
Coloured fleeces are no different in preperation to white.
