I've been keeping ferrets for years they never urineate in there sleeping area in fact they go as far away from it as possible, you have to wash and dry the towels, blankets etc well before they go in to the hutch in winter, don't use sawdust with them for some reason the urine reacts with the sawdust and can cause bad chest infections.
Please dont use sawdust for your pet beds as it can get in their eyes and cause splintering. Use ripped newspaper or shredded paper. Or even straw, if you can find it but not hay. My ferret and 8 babes live in a vanity case (those old fashioned thingys for cosmetics) with an entrance hole cut in it. Its draught proof and cosy and the lid undoes to check the babes. They're in a brick bike-shed which lets in light and is airy. The floor is concreted and they have the run of 4ft x 8ft. Plastic tubes & carboard boxes keep them amused. Water bottles fixed to wall stop them drowning....she gets very thirsty as she's feeding her babes!
