The following is a list of supposedly non moulting breeds

BEDLINGTON TERRIER
POODLE
FOX TERRIER (WIRE)
YORKSHIRE TERRIER
PORTUGUESE WATER DOG
BICHON FRISE
MALTESE
AFGHAN HOUND
KERRY BLUE TERRIER
TIBETAN TERRIER
we have always had labradors latest one is now 14 yrs. Our daughter who has worked and lived away from home has now become allergic to the hairs. We are seriously considering a labradoodle a first cross between a labrador and a standard poodle They are the IN dog Brad Pitt has one
They are still mongrels with a fancy name, whatever way you look at it!!And an oversize price!!
I think the Mexican hairless dog would be a good contender, they are ugly bitches, dogs not too pretty either :~)
Labradoodles! They were bred for that reason, so that people who were allergic to dog fur could have them, and of course they are sooooo cute!

My friend has a Shitzu and it doesn't moult-nor do poodles!
You don't say whether you want a dog that does not moult because you don't like clearing up dog hair (in which case get a stuffed toy dog) or because you think it will not cause a problem for someone who is allergic. However, it is not the dog hair that causes the problem, it is dander (dried, dead skin) that comes off ALL dogs. Labradoodles and even the hairless breeds can cause a problem, that is why Guide Dogs stopped using them, as there was no real advantage. Nowadays people have jumped on the 'designer dog' bandwagon and as electricblue points out, charge an extortionate price for what is in effect a mongrel.
schnauzers don't moult. i've got a schnauzer crossed with some kind of terrier, didn't get the non-moulting gene though!!
