Goldfish Outside?

Can I risk putting my 2 x small indoor goldfish into a planted barrel of water outside?

Yep, no problems...just don't overfeed for a week or so.

If they're to stay out all winter, it might be worth wrapping the barrell in bubble wrap and putting some over the top too in very cold weather. Don't feed the fish in temperatures below 10 deg C
we put our goldfish outside....and they are still living...so yes that should be fine
In fact, make sure that the barrel in not in the direct sun for too long. The water can heat up pretty quick in this weather and goldfish do not like warm water.
Yes, my father in law put 2 in his pond years and years ago, and they've thrived ever since. He doesn't even bring them in in winter.
If its one of those small ornamental half barrels then I doubt they'd survive the winter - especially if its not sunken into the ground.
You're probably right - to clarify, my father in law put them in a garden pond, and they've been happy there for 4+ years now.
