Cat keeps going back to our old address .....

We moved house two months ago. The old house is a good couple of miles away, however our cat keeps finding his way back there. Any sugestions on how to prevent this?

my nan always told me to put butter on the cats paws and he will find his way back home using the scent from the butter paw prints, ive never actually tried it as ive never had a cat so i dont know why she told me about it!, but it may be worth a try.

Move to Outer Mongolia.

Our neighbour moved and her cat came back. She came and got him and it happened a couple more times. Eventually the new neighbours agreed to keep him. They have now moved about a mile away, and lo and behold guess who's sitting on the fence again? Trouble is, the old house is empty, so he might well decide to go back to his new home.

Try keeping him in for 6 weeks (I know it's a long time) and then he should have got the picture that he lives at your new house now.

Honestly, considering cats are meant to be intelligent animals...... :O)

Although, he can't be too daft for him to find his way back with no directions which is more than I can say for most humans!!!!! :O)

when we moved house last year we kept our three cats in for about 8 weeks, they had to use a litter tray and when we did let them into the garden we made sure we had food ready to entice them back in again, after a couple of days they were fine and we have never had a problem.
