Well I hope they do because that is what I usually do when I see an insect too big to tackle myself! I think that all the sucking would kill it!

no, they just live in your hoover bag, getting bigger by eating all the dust, just biding they're time before they're big enough for revenge.

I think they breathe through holes in their thorax - probably a good chance they'd clog up and suffocate with the very fine particles of 'dust'. A piece of paper and a cup is a nicer way of getting rid of spiders (letting it go outside).
