Toads
2 Answers
Is it true that toads don't like to be in the water, a lot of the time, like frogs? I dont have a pond but seem to have a family of toads in my garden, my husband found them under some twigs in the corner, mum and dad and lots of babies, where it isn't disturbed. I sometimes see one sitting in a saucer of water I put out for the birds! If I try to pour water on him he waddles away.

When not breeding they like a moist environment and will try and situate themselves where they can find worms, slugs and other insects which are their main diet. If you can put some shallow containers of water around your garden they will appreciate it, especially in this hot weather, or water spray some of the undergrowth to provide a damp place. This will encourage worms or slugs for them to eat.
