'Extinct' Butterfly Returns To Life Monday August 7, 08:14 AM

One of Britain's rarest butterflies has made a spectacular comeback to a former stronghold where it has been extinct for more than 40 years. The Adonis Blue, which is classed as a "priority species", is restricted to a handful of sites in southern England. The insect became increasingly rare 50 years ago after a significant loss of its favoured habitat - chalk downland.

I though Adonis were extinct too.
I have not seen any in my area (lincolnshire) but have seen loads of Red Admirals and Peacocks on my Budlia. These species I thought were also rare. Maybe becasue Bumblebees are rarer the butterflies have more nectar for themselves letting the population flourish.
I saw this report too, it was accompanied with pictures.

alls not lost is it.

The sppoky bit was that I'd seen one the day before and asked if anyone else had seen it - they had.
