Wasp shortage...

Is it just me, or is there alot less wasps/bees this year?(Now that Ive said that, they'll all come out of hiding...)Usually Ive been chased several times by now, but ive only seen about 4 this year so far. It is because of the weather or something? Not that i'm complaining or anything!!

Bees are unfortunately due to be extinct as of this year - shame cause they're fluffy and friendly. Wasps on the other hand... GRRR! Sooner we spend our military budgets on some anti-wasp technology and dispatch the sorry little bast....ds the better!

I think that it is just the bumble bee that is under immediate threat. Here is an article from the BBCi web site:

There's plenty of Honey and Bumble Bees about, especially in the countryside hedgerows, where they're highly busy doing 'bee things'.

The Common Wasp comes out of hiding about June, and carries on being annoying until well into August/September.

Plants which have flowers which are brightly coloured and scented tend to be pollinated by insects including bees. Many other plants are wind pollinated and bees, and other insects, have nothing to do with this. However, I too am concerned about the (apparent) lack of bees this year.
