Hamster making bed in wheel

Our new hamster keeps making his bed in his wheel - then when he wants to excercise it can be quite difficult for him with all the stuff in it, and im worried he might get hurt from food falling on him that he's put in his bed - he has a nice little house but he doesn't use it.

Any advice?

Take the used bedding from the wheel and place it in a different part of the cage.

Does your hamster have a nest box? If so, that's where you should place the bedding in that. If not, then you need to get one. Hamsters like little holes to crawl into and take their bedding into, which is why he's using the wheel. Any small, non-cardboard box would do for now.

Yes the coconut-shell is a nest box that we bought, with a few holes in that he should like. We also took the bedding from the wheel and put it in the nest box but he still doesnt seem to like it.
