I have 2 cats who use litter trays and I put the cat waste in plastic carrier bags rather than straight into the bin. Does anyone know of a more environmentally friendly way to dispose of this.

Can't help I'm afraid as I do exactly the same as you. I will watch with interest to see if anyone has any bright ideas.
Maybe you could use it as compost in your garden?
Don't think you can use cat litter as compost, I'm guessing that's because of the risk of toxoplasmosis.
If you check out petplanet.co.uk they sell biodegradable pet poo bags, 4.99 per 100.
Hi
I have to say I'm a dog owner but as you do collect your waste and put into plastic bags anyway I would say that it would be best to then dispose of it in the dog "litter" bins you find in the street or near parks. Not an ideai solution I know but this does then get disposed of in a sanitary manner.
I have also included a link to a site I have looked it has lots of ways to dispose of dog waste. They do suggest using your compost. I would maybe check with your vet but I think that dogs can carry the same sort of bugs etc as cats and if it's safe to compost the onbe - why not the other.

You can't use the mineral based cat litter as compost, it just becomes a clayey lump. You could perhaps use the wood/paper based ones.

But as has been pointed out, you should really remove the faeces as they are health hazard, and carnivore faeces do not really help your soil, as there's no fibre in them.
