introducing grown up cats
2 Answers
pretty soon, my bf and his 10 year old female cat -tigger, are gonna move into my house with me and my 10 year old male cat -monsta. bf says tigger chases other cats from her garden, and used to swipe the cat she grew up with when he annoyed her (just by being too close). monsta used to beat up a jack russel that came to stay for a couple of months. jack just wanted to make friends (dumb dog!!), monsta would get up on his back legs and kinda move toward him boxing his fists (still makes me smile). is there any chance these 2 cats will get along, and what would be the best way to introduce them? should i take monsta to tiggers house so they get to know each others smell first. or should tigger come to my house for a couple of weekends (doors would stay firmly shut). i am trying to bear in mind that tigger is the one that has to move house.

Let them get on with it, fight etc but intervene if it gets too much. Or put them in individual cat boxes, facing each other so they get used to one another. Then put one in say a bedroom, shut the door leave the other one roaming free until the get used to having each other around. They will usually work out who is 'boss' for themselves. Good luck
