springer in whelping

its day 58/59, last night she was panting, digging, crying and restless, but had no milk secretion, or blood secretion. Its the same for today, but this morning was more tired. i rang the vet and she said everything seems fine.I have no way of checking her temperature.

Does it sound like she'll have them soon, or in a couple of days?

If you are sure of your dates, then I would not worry for another three or four days. Keep a close watch for any greenish discharge, as this could indicate a problem, and maybe a dead puppy blocking the others.

If she starts to go into labour with proper contractions but produces nothing for several hours, check again with the vet who may give her an oxytocin injection to induce her.
Often though, the car journey to the vets brings quicker results than the jab!

Hi, have to totally agree with Lankeela [once again....lol]. The best thing you can do is to keep her hydrated...penty of water...failing this, chicken soup always gets my bitch eating....water it down! Day 59 is nice and early, she may have a while to go yet, keep her calm and warm. Lankeela has told you all of the signs to look out for if a vet is needed....so my only other advice is to keep her a little active....walk her up the garden, stay with her at all times, as sometimes this is all that is needed to induce a birth...

ps ...To Lankeela.....All puppies survived....6!!!!! Am still hand rearing one tho....3 weeks in so can't be doing tooo bad...lol.

Just need some sleep!!!!
