Dog sick and weird lumps
2 Answers
My dog has been sick at between 4.30 and 6am (ie, BEFORE he has any breakfast) for the past 4 mornings. He seems well, wet nose, normal appetite, active on walks & playful.
The odd thing is that there is always 1 (this morning, 2) hard, white flat objetcs in the sick, which seems mostly mucous and doesn't smell. It looks a bit like a slice of cooked potato, or dried banana, but he doesn't eat anything which looks at all like this (at least, not to my knowledge, unless he is chewing something during the day when we are out, but it looks more natural than man made).
ANY ideas???? I wondered if it might be worms?? Small segments being coughed up???? Will take him along to vet anyway....

I stopped feeding hide chews when I read that sometimes they swell up in the stomach, a lady gave her GSD's some before bed (they were kennelled dogs) on her last check she went into one kennel to find alot of the white sick that you describe and the dog dead, she went into the next kennel and the dog was still alive, she rushed it to the vet and found that the hide chew pieces had swollen in the dogs stomach and damaged the inside of its stomach, I think the second dog survived.
You always have to remember that anything dried swells up inside the dog and a small piece can become much larger.
Doesn't sound like worms.

My Cairn Terrier also started to do this. He seemed to sick up bile (yellowy liquid stuff). I took him to the vet who initially prescribed him some indigestion tablets from the Chemist (we live in Spain and they are cheaper!). However, it continued and eventually they diagnosed a throat infection - he had a steroid injection and we removed his collar for a few days and he has been as right as rain ever since. Don't know whether this will help.
