My dog (male) keeps getting all frisky towards my cat(male),he acts the same as when he`s around a bitch in season. Its only been happening last couple of days, when the cat comes in after being out a while. The only thing I think it could be is the cat is going in a garden where theres a bitch in season and the scent is on him? Could this be possible?
No he`s not been nuetered,he will be 3 in April,we also have his mum she`s spayed an will be 5 also in April.
He`s never been one for humping. He only seems to do it when cat has just come in and leaves him alone after he`s been inside a while.
What I have heard about this matter is that dogs hump (none bitches in heat) in order to declare dominance, it seems that once the dog re-establishes his dominace over the cat he leaves him alone. As long as the dog is not trying to penatrate the cat I would say that is what is going on.
In my experience, even dogs (and bitches for that matter) that have been neutered will occasionally hump "things". I assumed it was some sort of "latent" habit, which occasionally surfaced. My dog was shagging everything until he was neutered, and then the shagging seemed to die out. However, every now and then he will start again. His "love interest" at the moment is a large white bear.
He only has been doing it over the past 2-3 days, has never done it before and I think its stopped now (hurray !!) The cat gave him a good old whack so I think thats helped too. Thanks for your answers
